Spend the day on the river!  This is not a calm float, it is trip with rapids.

We leave from Coffee Mountain Inn where we will drive you the approximately 600m to the River.  You will float/ride down the Santa Maria River, through a series of pools and rapids for about 2km (1 – 1.5 hrs) to the exit point.  About half the people flip over at some time, so it is not a gentle ride.

If you want to take your time on the river, and stop to swim at the deeper areas, we provide two options for your return.  (1) If you want more flexibility, we go with you to leave your car at the exit point, and you take your time on the river, and you drive yourself back, or (2) We agree on a time to pick you up at the exit point, and we come and drive you back.

The exit point is also a great place for family members who choose not to go tubing to play in the river and meet you.

You are responsible for your safety on the river.  Heavy rains cancel.  Ages 8+

Children should be of an age where they could handle issues by themselves (falling off tube, or being caught in a current that pushes them ahead of group).

When it rains in the rainforest, the river can rise quickly.  For this reason, we are pretty cautious about the river conditions when you go out. We check the river the morning you are interested in tubing, and at breakfast let you know how the river is looking. Sometimes the condition is between a yes and no, where it is running faster and higher than normal, so it would be a quick and adventurous ride, with more chance of flipping.  Other times, the river level has fallen, and there would be places where you would have to wiggle and pick up your tube at times.  So tell you about the conditions to expect. 

We set up a specific time to start tubing.  In that lapse of time, if it starts raining heavily in the mountains, we cancel the trip.
